Health & Safety Training

Health & Safety Training

New Employee Orientation
OBJECTIVE

The purpose of this training is to
  • Make the employee aware of safety and health hazards of the job and how they relate to the safety of others. It can help reduce the high-risk potential of injuries to young people, new/transferred or re-hired employees, seasonal or temporary employees.

  • Help to meet legal requirements. Under the Ontario’s Occupational Health & Safety Act - the employer is required to provide information, instruction and supervision to protect worker’s safety and health.

  • Help to reduce anxiety and stress experienced in a new or changed working environment/situation.

  • Help to balance company needs for productivity with individual needs for self-esteem, safety and security.

  • Help to make introduction of new, transferred or re-hired employees more efficient.

Why this training came into effect
New employees (transferred, re-hired, seasonal, etc.) have different training needs. This Health and Safety Training will take into account:
  • The nature of the job
  • Previous work or job experience
  • Age - for example, entering the work force for the first time
  • Qualifications
  • Previous training within the company (in case of transferred employees)
