Workplace Conflict, Hostility and Violence Prevention
A Half-Day Workshop

This half-day workshop addresses the serious subject of workplace conflict, hostility and violence and looks at this disturbing and growing trend in many organizations, businesses and companies.
The workshop will:
- Provide statistics on workplace violence and incidents of hostility
- Define terms such as workplace conflict, bullying, mobbing, workplace rage, verbal abuse, psychological harassment and positional abuse or aggression
- Demonstrate how these dysfunctional behavioiurs impact on employees and the entire workplace
- Provide the warning signs, risk factors, and strategies for dealing with potentially hostile and violent people, whether they are employees or ex-employees or external to your organization (customers, public, relatives or friends of employees)
- Address legal responsibilities (and identify the relevant legislation) for providing a safe and harassment-free work environment
- Discuss policies, programs and procedures for establishing safe and “respectful” workplaces

About the Lead Instructor: Susan Jostman
Susan possesses over twenty years of experience in both the public sector (Ontario Human Rights Commission-OHRC, Ontario Ministry of Labour-MOL, Employment and Immigration (federal) as well as the private sector (as a consultant and trainer). She has worked exclusively in the field of human rights, workplace discrimination, harassment and conflict management and prevention.
She has done extensive public education, speaking and training on these topics.
A graduate of the University of Toronto (Hons B.A. Political Science), Susan has formally trained in and taught investigation and mediation while at the Ontario Human Rights Commission and at the Ontario Police College (Aylmer).
