Lior Samfiru
Lior’s experience with a ‘management-side’ labour and employment law firm, as well as two stints with the Ministry of Labour, have enabled him to gain a thorough understanding of the varied employment issues faced by organizations in Ontario. His experience includes serving public sector clients, health care providers, and various manufacturing and construction operations. He regularly attends grievance arbitration hearings and trials. In particular, his work focuses on such areas as employee discipline and discharge, collective agreement interpretation, sale of business claims and issues arising under privacy legislation and the Employment Standards Act 2000.

Dr. Dermer obtained his MD from the University of Ottawa. He completed his residency at McMaster University, Department of Psychiatry in 1972, including a one year fellowship at the Institute of Psychiatry (Maudsley and Bethlehem Royal Hospitals), University of London, England. Dr. Dermer was the co-founder and Executive Director for Hamilton Program for Schizophrenia and the President of BPS, Inc., a multi-disciplinary rehabilitation program for motor vehicle accident victims. He has taught at McMaster University as an Associate Clinical Professor in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioural Neurosciences. His psychiatric practice is now devoted to multidisciplinary occupational health and disability management for public and private corporations.
